Tending the land gardening in community

28-Day Garden Challenge | Build Your Garden with Community Support

The Secret to a Thriving Garden Isn't a Green Thumb—It's Community

Every year, thousands of people enthusiastically plant a garden.

They buy the seeds. Build the beds. Water faithfully for a few weeks.

Then something happens.

The tomatoes turn yellow.
The squash gets covered in powdery mildew.
The seedlings disappear overnight.
The irrigation isn't working quite right.
Life gets busy.

And before long, the garden is quietly abandoned.

It isn't because these people weren't capable of growing food.

It's because they were trying to figure it all out alone.

Gardening Was Never Meant to Be a Solo Journey

For thousands of years, gardening knowledge was passed from generation to generation. Families, neighbors, and communities worked together, shared seeds, celebrated harvests, and helped each other through difficult seasons.

If someone's crop failed, there was someone nearby who had experienced the same thing.

If pests showed up, someone knew what to do.

If the soil wasn't producing, there was wisdom available.

Today, many of us are trying to learn these timeless skills in isolation. We search online, watch random videos, and hope we're getting the right advice.

When something goes wrong—which it inevitably does—we often assume we just don't have a "green thumb."

The truth is...

Every gardener faces challenges.

The difference between someone who succeeds and someone who gives up is often having someone there to say:

"I've been through this before. Here's what to do next."

Every Garden Has Challenges

No matter how experienced you become, every season brings something new.

A heat wave.
Unexpected pests.
Nutrient deficiencies.
Poor germination.
Overwatering.
Underwatering.
Animals.
Weather.

Challenges are not signs of failure.

They're simply part of learning how to work with nature.

The problem isn't that these obstacles appear.

The problem is facing them alone.

That's Why I Created the 28-Day Garden Challenge

Over the last 17 years of growing food, I've realized something important.

People don't need more information.

They need support.

That's exactly what this challenge is designed to provide.

Instead of watching endless videos and wondering if you're doing things correctly, you'll be learning alongside others who are building gardens just like you.

When questions arise, you'll have a place to ask.

When something isn't working, we'll troubleshoot it together.

When you feel discouraged, you'll have a community reminding you why you started.

Because sometimes all it takes is one conversation to keep someone from giving up on their garden.

Is This Challenge Right for You?

This challenge was created for you if you:

  • Want to start a garden but don't know where to begin.
  • Have an existing garden that needs a fresh start.
  • Want to grow healthy food using natural, regenerative methods.
  • Crave accountability that keeps you showing up.
  • Love learning alongside a supportive community instead of trying to figure everything out on your own.

Let's Grow Together

One of my deepest passions is helping bring families back into the garden.

Not because everyone needs a perfect vegetable garden.

But because gardening changes the way we relate to food, to nature, and to ourselves.

It teaches patience.

It teaches resilience.

It reconnects us with the rhythms of the seasons.

Most importantly, it reminds us that growth happens best in community.

I'd love for you to join us.

Let's build healthy soil, grow nourishing food, overcome challenges together, and create gardens that continue to flourish long after these 28 days are over.

The 28-Day Garden Challenge begins Sunday, July 19th, and I can't wait to garden alongside you.
